LIEBERMAN SKIPPED KEY VOTE TO MAKE EARMARKS PUBLIC

In August, Lieberman skipped a vote on bipartisan legislation that would have forced the Bush administration to disclose Pentagon funds that have been earmarked for wasteful programs. The bill was in response to the scandal surrounding Rep. Duke Cunningham (R-CA). Cunningham was convicted for improperly earmarking Defense appropriations for lobbyists who were contributing to his campaign and lavish lifestyle. [Source: Senate Roll Call Vote #226, 8/3/06]
